So a few days ago I saw a commercial on TV for these Bratzillaz, and of course my mind immediately went to “Monster High ripoff!” But hey, that’s no reason to outright hate anything. In fact, once I went to Target earlier today and actually saw some of them, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked them. For one thing, they don’t look quite like child prostitutes anymore, so that’s great. And in my opinion, these actually look way better than regular Bratz dolls. Their faces are “cuter”- they have sparkly doe eyes instead of bedroom eyes, inset glass eyes, just slightly thinner lips, and a hint of an actual smile-, their clothes are much more interesting than the typical really-uncomfortably-sexual-aren’t-these-kids-in-high-school Bratz fashions, better proportions, and actual feet. And they’re articulated! That’s always good! Out of the five, I’m quite partial to Yasmina and Meygana, but to be honest they’re all pretty adorable. I’ll probably buy one or two, if only just to compare them to Monster High in terms of quality.
